The first day of December started the Christmas spirit with a bang at Maude St Mall with the man in red himself, Frosty the Snowman and activities for all to enjoy.
The CBD Christmas Launch brought the mall to life on Saturday with roving entertainers, bright statues and, a first for this year, a merry-go-round.
Greater Shepparton City Council’s place manager Tim Russell said Saturday was a great way to start the festive season in partnership with Shepparton Show Me and the Shepparton Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
‘‘It was an opportunity to kick things off with a bang and we were really pleased with the turn out,’’ he said.
Every Friday and Saturday leading up to Christmas, visitors to the mall will have the chance to take part in the many activities on offer.
Activities will include live music, a pop-up Christmas photo booth and live chalk art demonstrations.
‘‘Every Saturday our pop-up Christmas photo booth will have a different theme and different characters to meet,’’ Mr Russell said.
‘‘There will be plenty of opportunities to meet the ‘Blue Santa’.’’
He said the mall would be buzzing with entertainment this month with the carousel becoming a permanent fixture until next month.
