AFTER a thrilling one-point victory against Undera, Girgarre footballers at all levels will look to put on another nail-biting performance this Sunday against Stanhope.

The narrow triumph tied Girgarre with Stanhope and Undera on 28 points on the Kyabram District League ladder, with all three sides four points back from fourth position.

Club president Brendan Nicholson is encouraging as many people as possible to come down and watch the clash.

“Everyone from four to nine on the ladder is within a game of finals,” he said.

“Its been a long time since we’ve been in the finals, and a long, long time since we’ve beaten Stanhope.

“And this Sunday, we have a genuine opportunity.

“At every level — thirds, seconds and seniors — we are in with a chance. It will be very exciting to watch.”

The game is being played as part of the club’s patrons and sponsors day.

An Under 14’s match between the SGR Giants and Kyabram will be a pre-cursor to the seniors game and played at 9.45am.

The thirds game will kick off at 10.45am, seconds at 12.35pm and the seniors at 2.35pm.

Rushworth membership card holders can enter for free.

“Now is the time to get behind us,” Nicholson said.
