WYUNA basketballer Declan Hallett was part of the Victorian U14 side that claimed the Australian Country Junior Basketball Cup in Albury.
Hallett, 12, played against other states and a New Zealand side in the competition where the Victorians dominated, winning all eight games.
The St Augustine’s student has been playing for the Echuca Pirates for six years and was pleased to be selected in the Victorian side after multiple selection camps.
Declan’s mum Sam said her son was proud of his performance and was pleased to come away with the trophy.
“It was some of the best basketball I have seen him play and I was very proud to see him take on a leadership role in the team,” she said.
“Basketball is something he wants to pursue in the future and it was good to see his hard work paying off.
“The team all worked hard in the lead up to the competition and everyone was happy to get the result as a reward.”
