Now in its seventh year, the week recognises and promotes the important role family day care educators play in the wellbeing and development of more than 130,000 children across Australia.
Twenty local children, their family day care educators and parents participated in a range of fun, active play activities at the Youth Club in Unwin Street. They were also treated to some cultural experiences with the club’s newly appointed cultural liaison officer Lui Boshi and his partner Deng Xuanwen.
Bambini Childcare Services spokesperson Vicki Street said the event was a great way for children to participate and engage with what their local community has to offer.
“It was such a fabulous play session, and it was clearly evident how much time and work went into the preparation. It was very much appreciated and a great opportunity for children to participate in physical play that has so many benefits for their learning and development, and is also a lot of fun,” Mrs Street said.
Kyabram Youth Club president Michael Maskell said his committee was glad to have the chance to showcase some of the fun learning experiences that are available for local children in their own backyard.
“Our committee’s aim is to grow strong children, strong families and strong communities, so this occasion ticked all the boxes,” Mr Maskell said.
“We especially enjoyed the chance to celebrate the uniqueness and ‘star qualities’ of every child and the positive contribution of family day care educators and staff make to the lives of the children and the families they care for.”
Family day care is a childcare setting where every child has a chance to shine. With small educator-to-child ratios and welcoming home environments, each child develops a close and positive relationship with their educator and family, which creates a sense of belonging, safety and security.

Mr Maskell said such was the success of last week’s play session that the club would offer families a weekly play session opportunity. Phone Michael on 0414 815 527 to register interest.
