Life for two club stalwarts

By David Rak

THE Kyabram Club has two new life members.

John Hausler and Barry Wootton were given life membership after more than 40 combined years as directors of the club.

John utilised his human resources background to help the club pick its management and was asked to join the board of directors.

“It’s a community club and it has been a lot of fun to help the club and the town grow,” John said.

“There have been some challenging aspects of it but we have both overseen a lot of developments we’re very proud of.”

Barry joined the board of directors and used his experience as a builder as project manager of the Kyabram Western Gums Tourist Park.

“I’ve enjoyed helping out and creating something for the town,” Barry said.

“We’ve had the fantastic support of a great team that has worked together — the club and the park are prospering as a result.”

Kyabram Club chairman Terry Nepean said John and Barry had been fantastic assets to the club.

“They are two very dedicated board members and it’s a shame to see them finishing their time on the board,” he said.

“John’s business background brought a lot of managerial experience to the board and helped us tremendously with recruitment and compliance.

“And Barry’s skills and experience in the work at the tourist park were fantastic and are a big part of why the town now has a fantastic tourist park.”
