Top side dish out thrashing

HEATHCOTE Bowling Club’s division three team was given a bowling lesson on the weekend, falling to top side Harcourt by 64 shots.

Heathcote 62 lost to Harcourt 126

John McGillivray 15 lost to D Pettingill 28

Brian Taylor 18 lost to T Olsson 33

Greg Speirs 12 lost to L Maloney 38

Bill Gardiner 17 lost to G Maddern 27

John McGillivray’s team started well but then struggled to trail by seven shots after 12 ends. John’s team lost the next four ends and were ultimately defeated by 13 shots.

Brian Taylor’s team made an even start with scores level on the 8th end. However, despite their best efforts, Brian’s team only won five more ends to go down by 15 shots.

Greg Speirs had an even start with scores level after six ends. Greg’s team then struggled, winning only four more ends to lose by 26 shots.

Bill Gardiner’s team won the first two ends and scores were level on the 8th,12th and 15th ends. Unfortunately, Bill’s team only managed to win four more ends and were defeated by 10 shots.

Division six:

Heathcote’s division six team played Eaglehawk at Heathcote and were soundly defeated by 45 shots.

Heathcote 65 lost to Eaglehawk 110.

Alan Perry 23 defeated K White 22

Denise Anderson 19 lost to M Volk 27

Eileen O’Brien 9 lost to F Lynch 32

Chris Cail 14 lost to M Hatters 29

Alan Perry’s team started slowly but fought back to lead by four shots after 13 ends. The game remained close, but Alan’s team won the last three ends to finish three shots ahead.

Denise Anderson’s team had a slow start although scores were level by the 12th end. Denise’s team then struggled, winning only six more ends to go down by eight shots.

Eileen O’Brien’s team made a poor start and trailed by 15 shots after 10 ends. Despite their best efforts, Eileen’s team could not bridge the gap and went down 23 shots.

Chris Cail’s team had an even start but then struggled to trail by 12 shots by the 12th end. The shots and ends were then shared. However, Chris’ team lost the final end and were defeated by 15 shots.

Heathcote travelled to Bendigo East and in a close game only lost by four shots to the top side.

Sharyn Vowles 30 defeated S McDonald 19

Chris Cail 16 lost to J Hoffman 23

Denise Anderson’s team made a slow start and by the 14th end trailed by 10 shots. Despite scoring six shots on the 17th end, Denise’s team went down by eight shots.

Sharyn Vowles’ team won the first four ends and led by seven shots after 13 ends. The team kept up the pressure winning the last two ends to record an 11-shot victory.

Chris Cail’s team made an even start with scores level after six ends. Chris’ team then struggled but won the last end to go down by only seven shots.

Social Bowls.

On Wednesday, in hot conditions, 13 brave bowlers played three games of pairs and triples.

The winners were Brian Taylor (s) and Kelvin Hamilton (three wins, 45 points, 17 shots). Runners-up were Peter Cunningham (s) and Tom Aylett (two wins, 36 points, +13 shots), from Hal Dihm (s) and Eileen O’Brien (two wins, 32 points, +5 shots). The jackpot was not won and will be $120 today.
