Four weeks ago an article was printed in the News concerning a young Mooroopna cyclist Joanne Camerson, who wished to see a women’s cycling club formed in Shepparton.
We then delved into the history of cycling in Shepparton to find if such a club has existed.
We printed what our various sources had revealed to us, that there was never a club in Shepparton.
Suddenly we were overwhelmed with phone calls from persons both irrate and perplexed.
A club had been formed they said.
One existed for four years from 1948, the Shepparton Women’s Amateur Cycling Club.
Yesterday, Mrs H. V. Morris of Vaughan St, Shepparton, sent in this photograph of those young ladies comprising the club.
