Katamatite was determined to stamp their authority over the home side, in the remote possibility that they might meet again in the finals.
Winning the toss and electing to bat the Tigers lost an early wicket, being 1/5 in the third over, but alas for Jerilderie, that was the end of their brief spell of glory and at the drinks break the visitors had 50 runs on the board without the loss of a further wicket.
From there, while losing a few wickets Katamatite continued to pile on the runs and at the end of the allotted overs were six down for a formidable total of 143.
Opener Ben Lucas began swinging at everything but at 66 was clean bowled by Luke Keating (2/16 off five overs).
Lachlan Sharp chipped in with 19 runs, and with some lusty hitting at the end Glen Edis was out to a good catch on the boundary by Rory Knight for 17, and Stefan Nordbye carrying his bat on 15.
Jerilderie’s only other multiple wicket taker was Mitch A’Vard, who chimed in with 2/10 off three overs.
Jerilderie’s run chase began badly, firstly Jack Anthony, then Blair Henery, followed by Mitch A’Vard and Luke Keating, were sent back to the dressing sheds without troubling the scorer a great deal.
And then when the only batsman to put up any resistance, opener Grant Smith, was dismissed for 23, the home side was in deep trouble at 5/37.
Jerilderie’s woes were ended with the total at 72, Andy Neessen with his 10 not out being the only other Jerilderie batsman to reach double figures.
For the visitors, Lachlan Sharp returned the excellent figures of 4/13 off seven overs; Conor Lawless 2/13 off six, and Matt Wright cleaned up the tail with 2/3 from 1.5 overs.
Unfortunately with Jerilderie having the bye in the final round, they will not have a chance to win their way into the top four, with fourth placed Katunga three premiership points in front of the fifth placed Demons.
