It was a case of the Old Bloods against the Young Bloods.
The Old Bloods won the toss and took the easy route of sending the Young Bloods out to the field.
Some early good bowling from Liam Sutton and Tom Oliver saw an early breakthrough, with Sutton bowling Josh Wraight.
However, this was the last wicket for quite some time as Hayden White and Pete Harrison built a partnership.
The Young Bloods kept their bowling tight initially until both batters punished anything short out to the square boundaries.
Hayden was seemingly happy taking to the bowling of his son Tom, hitting 14 off an over.
With Hayden on 33 and Harrison on 22, they both retired in the 13th over, bringing the young team some relief.
Andrew Lean, with his runner Ollie East, and Christina Roberts then entered the fray with some good running between the wickets that started to build a partnership.
Oliver came back into the bowling attack and immediately got the breakthrough with a searing yorker to remove Roberts.
Some good hitting from Lean (19*), Paul Mangion and Aaron Shepherd got the Old Bloods to 120 despite a late flurry of wickets, with Rory Shepherd taking two off his final over.
With six an over needed in reply, the Young Bloods were feeling reasonably confident.
They started well with some nice early shots by openers Tom Oliver and Jeremy Packer, but this confidence was soon shattered as Dennis Sutton ripped out Oliver’s key wicket, followed quickly by that of Tom White, caught behind by keeper Mangion.
The youngsters were on the back foot, and they never really recovered, with their batters able to get a start but none going on with it. all of the young bloods are getting started, but no-one is really getting going.
There were some good contributions from Liam Sutton (13), Cooper Mangion (13 not out) after being kindly dropped by his father, and Rory Shepherd (14).
However, in the end, the Old Bloods prevailed 120 vs 89.
It was a fun day with some good cricket played.
