The first day was a schools day where students attend workshops then compete in an interbreed competition. Yanco, Hay, Billabong, TRAC, Ballarat Grammar and Salesian College also attended.
FHS once again won most successful school at Holbrook, which is an award it has won many times in recent years.
The ewe classes were dominated, winning three of the four classes in the schools interbreed.
Finley High’s success is a testament to the quality of its breeding program over many years.
It has had the support of a number of Poll Dorset breeders who have supplied the school with quality rams or semen to breed with.
The Frost family at Bannister have supplied semen for the last four years and Genstock at Jerilderie has been donating its services to AI the ewes each year.
The school has a quality flock to choose from, that has terrific evenness and very few faults.
Phil Murrowood shore the sheep in the show team again, and does an outstanding job to see them presented exceptionally.
Team members were excited to also win Supreme Sheep of the Show with a beautiful ewe born in April last year. She was the clear winner, outclassing the champion ram, a Bond. The judges remarked on her beautiful style, thick and deep muscling, correctness and excellent presentation.
Sophie Griffiths from Year 9 paraded her exceptionally, demonstrating a great connection with the ewe.
In junior judging Finley High had numerous placings in novice meat sheep, merino and fleece judging.
