Safety plea after Toc. death

By Southern Riverina News

A Victorian man was killed on Saturday when the motorcycle he was riding at Tocumwal crashed into a tree.

Police said the 28 year-old from Boronia was riding the unregistered bike through the Murray Valley National Park at Tocumwal about 3.20pm, when it is believed he lost control on a dirt road.

Police are investigating whether speed was a factor in the crash.

Emergency services were called and attempted CPR, but it was unsuccessful.

Murray River Police District Detective Inspector Jy Brown said the news is devastating so close to the Christmas period, and urged everyone to take extra care on the roads.

‘‘Police are reminding all drivers to be aware of their surroundings — don’t speed, don’t drink and drive and please obey road rules,’’ Det Insp Brown said.

‘‘Police will be in force over the summer period to maintain safety and conduct traffic enforcement operations.

‘‘Anyone who witnesses poor driving behaviour is urged to report it to police.’’
