Enjoy all country racing has to offer at the Varapodio Family Italian Plate Day in the heartland of Victoria’s thoroughbred country in an intimate setting, with sweeping views of the racetrack.

Get up close and personal with jockeys and trainers from across the state, while enjoying the racing action, children’s activities and live music at Tatura raceourse.

Tatura and Shepparton Race Club general manager Jon Dight said the popular meeting attracted more then 2000 people last year.

‘‘This year we have put more of an emphasis on Christmas and have some decent bookings from work parties and a lot of socials which will make for a good, fun, relaxing day,’’ Mr Dight said.

The day will include free children’s activities, Fashions on the Field and live entertainment.

‘‘Fashions on the Field is incredibly popular all over the state,’’ Mr Dight said.

The club is offering a complimentary shuttle bus service on the day from Shepparton, Mooroopna and Kyabram.

Mr Dight said there would be a variety of different packages, including general admission on the day.

‘‘Indulge yourself with an umbrella package on the home straight for you and your friends or alternatively experience the luxury of your own private marquee and upgrade your package to include food and beverages,’’ he said.

The Italian Plate Day gates open at 11am on Sunday at Tatura and Shepparton Race Club, 160-200 Ross St, Tatura.
