Screams of terror could be heard in Shepparton last week as a group of chilling zombies descended on KidsTown.
About 400 willing participants braved the frightening course of Word and Mouth’s DeadzTown on Thursday and Friday night for an evening of horror.
Run for the second year, Word and Mouth’s project manger Jim Gow said this year’s course was bigger and better than the last.
‘‘We had a great turn out, we could hear plenty of screams, which is actually a positive,’’ he said.
Mr Gow said a lot of time and preparation went into perfecting the course and ensuring the zombies and special effects looked the part.
‘‘The course runs the perimeter of KidsTown and down the back it can get pretty creepy because you are away from most traffic and background noise,’’ he said.
‘‘It feels really black and really quiet and that is where people start to really feel the pressure of it all.’’
DeadzTown was run in conjunction with Greater Shepparton City Council’s Activities in the Park program, which provides free and low-cost activities for residents.
