Sheppartonians not only received a sterling on-court performance from NBA impersonator Brandon Armstrong, but they were also treated to a parody video filmed at a Kialla basketball court.
The social media sensation played for his Big V side Melbourne University against the Shepparton Gators on Saturday night at Shepparton Sports Stadium.
Armstrong took advantage of a neighbourhood basketball court in Kialla where he filmed a new video impersonating NBA player Tristan Thompson, well-known as the cheating partner of reality star Khloe Kardashian.
‘‘My new video is an impersonation of Tristan Thompson and how he rebounds really well, but isn’t the best finisher,’’ Mr Armstrong said.
‘‘It was filmed about 15 minutes away in a neighborhood in Kialla.
‘‘The video included myself and my two good friends Liam and Troy.
‘‘The neighborhood just happened to have a mini basketball court, so we took advantage of it.’’
It was the first impersonation video Mr Armstrong had uploaded in some time, after moving to Melbourne from the United States to play for Melbourne University.
Mr Armstrong enjoyed the chance to interact with fans following the match in Shepparton, where the Gators came away the win.
‘‘I actually enjoyed getting a chance to meet and interact with everyone after the game,’’ he said.
‘‘It was a great environment with great people.’’
Mr Armstrong was pleased with the match and said it was a close, competitive game.
‘‘I wish we would have come out with the victory, but we’ll meet in the playoffs for sure,’’ he said.
