Nathalia residents will be treated to an evening of creative music tonight, with performances from Vocational Education and Training music students at the G.R.A.I.N. Store.
The show, Below and Beyond, was organised by VCAL music student Ruby Wyatt-Carter as an evening for students to perform their work to an audience, while being assessed as part of their studies.
Five VET music students from St Mary of the Angels Secondary College in Nathalia and St Augustine’s College in Kyabram will perform a mix of solos and duets which they have learned while studying.
‘‘Part of their assessment is to complete a public performance, so their assessments will be happening throughout the evening,’’ G.R.A.I.N. Store secretary Olive Sage said.
‘‘There will be a range of music including guitar and vocals, piano and acoustic performances.’’
The evening kicks off at 7pm, with four performances to run for 20 minutes each.
St Mary’s VET hospitality students will provide guests with light refreshments following the first two performances.
Tickets will be sold at the door and Ms Sage encouraged community members to come along and support the local students.
‘‘It would be great if we had some community members come along, even if it is a bit chilly on a winter’s night,’’ she said.
‘‘We also have our school exhibition Endangered on display right through the gallery, so if people come to watch the performances they have the opportunity to have a look at the exhibition as well.’’
Below and Beyond will be held at the G.R.A.I.N. Store at 24 Blake St, Nathalia tonight from 7pm. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $5 for members and students, and $10 for non-members and adults. For more information phone 0403756571.
