On Wednesday afternoon, families thanked the school community for being so welcoming by cooking traditional Malaysian dishes.
The home-cooked feast allowed the parents to socialise while the students and their siblings weren’t deterred by the chilly weather and took full advantage to run around the playground.
School principal Tim Seal said it was a strong turnout from all families.
‘‘We are a multi-cultural school. We have some Malaysian families who have just gone through Ramadan and celebrating Hari Raya,’’ Mr Seal said.
‘‘They wanted to use this opportunity to thank us for being welcoming and accepting of them and their culture.
‘‘They wanted to put on a small spread before our school council meeting but it gathered quite a bit of steam and as a result we’ve been able to bring lots of different cultural groups to our little school.’’
Mr Seal said bringing the community together helped drive positive learning for all students.
‘‘The rich learning about different people, culture and acceptance is amazing,’’ he said.
‘‘The students love it.
‘‘You watch them running around with their mates, it shows no boundaries.’’
