Goulburn Valley Libraries are offering a series of free sessions to help people learn more about the workings of the law during Law Week which runs from May 13 to 19.
Shepparton Library in Marungi St will host the following events:
Coffee with a Cop
An opportunity to meet and chat with local police in an informal and accessible environment.
Tuesday, May 14, 11am to noon.
Justice of the Peace Signing Station
A JP will be available to witness and sign documents and answer questions on their role.
Monday, May 13, 1pm to 2pm and Thursday, May 16, 1pm to 2pm.
Australian Visas and Migration Law Basics
Information for people applying for an Australian visa and the pros and cons of migration agents.
Wednesday, May 15, 11am to 1pm.
Grandparents and your Rights as Carers
Run in partnership with Victorian Legal Aid, this session will shed light on the legal rights of a grandparent or carer, as well as information on rights and responsibilities under Family Law and Child Protection Law.
Friday, May 17, 10.30am to 11.30am.
Seniors and the Law
A panel of lawyers will discuss issues facing seniors.
Monday, May 13, 1.30pm to 4.30pm.
Mooroopna Library will also host a law week event in partnership with Mooroopna Education and Activity Centre at the Seniors Hall MEAC, 23 Alexandra St.
