Shepparton High School’s 2019 student leaders were inducted into their new roles yesterday.
The Year 12 students spent time discussing their roles and responsibilities as leaders along with sharing their thoughts on the positions for next year.
The school captains, vice-captains and house captains met with principal Christine Cole to talk about their involvement around the school and how they would best represent their fellow peers.
‘‘In order to really improve our student outcomes, a real focus for the school is for our students to have more of a say in their leadership,’’ she said.
‘‘We’ve got some student leaders at each year level so a vision for us is to have our students really have a say in their learning.’’
2019 Rodney house captain Cortney Voumard said she was looking forward to the new challenge she had been given by her peers.
She said she was most looking forward to getting students involved in the school sports days and encouraging participation across all year levels.
‘‘I’m hoping to promote house sports and swim sports and get the kids involved in those to make sure there is a lot of participation and enjoyment at those events,’’ she said.
‘‘I feel like the sports carnivals are dying off and not as many people are swimming and doing the sports so I want them to get out of their comfort zone.’’
