THERE is no doubt in anyone’s mind how much a victory against the local rival means.

For Echuca United’s co-captain Farran Priest, they are matches he is always looking forward to.
“These games are what we look forward to every year,” he said.
“Irrelevant of how they are playing or how we are playing, they always turn into really good matches. Both sides like to show up and produce their best football.
“You want to win every game of football, but with the Three Jacks on the line, there is a bit more to play for.
‘‘It gives you bragging rights across our towns and that is something you always want to have.
“It makes getting the win really special, so this was a victory that really means a lot to us.”
Priest more than delivered in the contest, booting three goals and being named in the bests for the day as the Eagles claimed a 63 point victory.
The Eagles are flying early at 3-0, but the co-captain is eyeing further improvement for his side.
“We’ve been really good in patches throughout games,” he said.
“But we want to be more consistent as a side. We are playing the game on our terms from 60 per cent of the match and when we do play the game our way we’re producing some really good quality football.
“What we want to do as a team is increase those numbers. We’d rather have it on our terms for 80 per cent and ideally for the entire match. We trust the way we play, we know what we are able to do well so if we continue to play our best football each week, we should be able to continue to see the results we have had so far.”
