On Sunday, March 31, Moama Historic Vehicle Club (MHVC) will hold its first Pride and Joy Vehicle Display on the lawns of the soundshell in Moama.
The day is aimed at giving the public a chance to talk to the owners of the classic vehicles and to learn more about the club.
Established in 2006, the MHVC now boasts more than 90 members and it’s those members’ vehicles that will be on display.
Cars, motorcycles and trucks will take over the lawn of the soundshell with a wide variety of makes and models, including the possibility of some pre-1920 vehicles.
The club is also encouraging its members to bring along some unfinished projects on trailers for the display.
‘‘It’s a chance to tell people our story,’’ MHVC social co-ordinator Kate Dixon said.
‘‘The vehicles could have been handed down through the generations, a family heirloom. Our members have spent a lot of months and years working on their pride and joy.
‘‘There will be everything from muscle cars, to old cars and unfinished projects, which will help our members who might be looking for a missing part that could be in someone else’s shed.’’
It’s a significant event for the MHVC which has never held a show ‘n’ shine display before.
‘‘It will be good to get our members together and show the public who we are,’’ Kate said.
‘‘It’s also a chance for people to join the club as a social member. They don’t have to have a historic car to join in our social events.’’
These events include scatter run rallies and navigational rallies as well as trips to other club’s show ‘n’ shine displays.
‘‘It’s about getting active, getting out and using our cars,’’ Kate said.
‘‘It doesn’t mater whether you’re in your 80s or 30s and 20s.’’
Kate said the club had received interest from about 50 of its members in putting their vehicles on display.
It has also had interest from other clubs and the MHVC is encouraging non-members to brings their historic vehicles to the soundshell precinct on the day.
Only the MHVC will be allowed on the lawns of the Kerrabee Soundshell, but other club’s classic cars are welcome to cruise around and park nearby to add to the heritage feel of the day.
The Pride and Joy Vehicle Display will start at 9am and run until 2.30pm.
There will be a prize for the best display as voted by the public, with the winner announced at 1.30pm.
A barbecue lunch will be available and a coffee van will provide refreshments.
