An incredible seven records were broken at the Deniliquin High School’s annual twilight swimming carnival at the Deniliquin Swim Centre last Thursday.

Elena Mulham in the 14 girls section was a star in the pool, setting six new records, while Luke Rodda broke one record in the 16 boys section.
Elena swam the 100m Freestyle in 1:05.62 (old time: 1:17.28), 50 m Freestyle in 29.56 (old time: 33.18), 50m Butterfly in 33.66 (old time: 41.00), 50m Breaststroke in 42.78 (old time: 45.94), 50m Backstroke in 38.31 (old time: 38.56) and the 12 to 14 Individual Medley in 3:00.28 (old time: 3:05.85).
Luke Rodda swam the 50m Breaststroke in 41.29 breaking the record by 1.8 seconds (old time: 43.09).
Nyrangi stood tall as the winning house for the day with 538 points.
Kyalite was second with 341 points, while Edward finished third with 334 points and Colligen was fourth with 137 points.
Age Champions for the day are as follows: 12 years: Boys - William Campton, Girls - Kaili Anderson, 13 years: Boys - Isaac Thompson, Girls - Kate Westcott, 14 years: Boys - Charlie Hillier, Girls - Elena Mulham, 15 years: Boys - Cooper Wall, Girls - Charlotte Strong, 16 years: Boys - Luke Rodda, Girls - Sophie Strong, 17 years: Boys - Thomas Duffey, Girls - Amy Rodda.
Year 12 showed off their creative costumes in a traditional parade, lapping around the pool armed with water guns.
Jacob Edwards and Lourens Geldenhuys were great DJ’s for the day playing a variety of dedicated songs in Valentine’s spirit throughout the carnival.
The event saw 40 students qualify for the PSSA Zone Carnival which was held in Deniliquin on Wednesday.
A total of 22 swimmers competed for DHS at the zone carnival clocking impressive times in the pool.
Out of this 20 students qualified for the Regional Swimming Carnival, which will be held in Leeton on March 4.
