Moulamein Football & Netball Club has been rewarded for its efforts in hosting the Golden Rivers League grand final, being awarded Murray River Council’s Community Event of the Year for 2019.

Moulamein hosted the 2018 Golden Rivers Football Netball League decider on September 15, 2018, becoming the first club to host a GRFNL grand final in NSW.

The event was a huge success, with about 2000 people attending.

Hosting the decider contributed to the local community and businesses with many benefiting from increased patronage.

Moulamein FNC were acknowledged in local media following the decider which reflected the professionalism of the event and were also recently recognised as the best administered club in the Golden Rivers Football Netball League.

Hosting a grand final has helped put Moulamein on the map as a premier venue to host major sporting events and showcased the club as a strong local entity driven by community passion.

The award nomination said the committee was to be commended on the incredible team effort that went into organising what is a very big event for the region — from the parking to the canteen and the running of the day.
