Two Midweek wins for Deni

Both Deniliquin Bowling Club Midweek Pennant teams enjoyed wins at home in the Campaspe Valley Bowls Division on Friday.

Division One defeated Rochester by 29 shots in their round five match, 91 to 62.

The best rink was skipped by Jill Grimshaw, with teammates Winnie Pattinson, Joy McArthur and Fay Munnerley, winning 17 of the compulsory 25 ends.

A ‘seven’ on the second end set the scene for a good win.

Final score, Deni 41 to Rochester 15.

Maxine Norton, Brenda Leetham, Joanne Bovell and skip Linda Harris won 14 ends, scoring three ‘fives’ along the way to win by 15 shots.

Final score, Deni 34 to Rochester 19.

Toni Brooksby, Dawn McCulloch, Jenny Tonta and skipper Lyn Smith, skip won 11 ends but went down against strong opposition by 12 shots.

Final score, Rochester 28 to Deni 16.

Division Two were hosts to City of Echuca for round four and scored an eight shot win; with two winning rinks 76 to 68.

Maureen King skipped her rink of Aileen Kennedy, Lindsay Franklin and Cheryl Bradley to an 18 shot win.

Final score, Deni 31 to Echuca 13.

Loris Yates, Tony Danckert, Barb Berry and skipper Caryn Hillier followed on with a nine shot win.

Final score, Deni 28 to Echuca 19.

Lorraine Tasker, Harry Lea, Helen Anderson and Robyn Little (s) struggled, losing by 19 shots.

Final score, Echuca 36 to Deni 17.

This week Division One travel to Rich River; seconds cars leave the club at 8.30am.
