Some very good lambs off grain and pellets led the sale, before quality faded off into a lot of small and mixed penlots.
At this time of year and with the limited numbers available, only the core group of regular buyers were operating.
Prices for the best trade weight lambs did improve by a few dollars, while quality was an issue over some of the lighter weight stock.
Heavy trade weight lambs sold to a top of $187, while the pick of the crossbred domestic lambs in the 22kg to 24kg carcase weight (cwt) bracket made from $163 to $178 a head.
These good lambs trended around 700c/kg cwt and above.
There was a lot of lighter weight lambs from $120 to $142/head, at an estimated 650c to 690c/kg cwt depending on breed, quality and number in a pen.
There wasn’t a lot of quality in the sheep offering, which was reflected in price outcomes.
There was a reasonable number of hoggets in the yarding as dentition becomes an issue with lambs cutting teeth.
