The highly desirable A Day on the Green event to be held at All Saints Estate on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 is set to be a complete sell-out, with tickets going on sale this Friday.
“I’ve made 500 new friends!” an excited Eliza Brown, owner of All Saints Estate, told The Free Press.
“The reaction has been amazing and all of the locals are very excited as are we. Just to get an act like that in Rutherglen-Wahgunyah, and regional Victoria, is pretty phenomenal.
“I think we all need to look at it as a massive opportunity for the region to shine.
“We’ve had millions of calls looking for accommodation and we’ll be looking at alternative accommodation for people as well.
“I think a lot of people would be getting accommodation before even purchasing their tickets.”
Elton John will traverse Australia and New Zealand between December 2019 and February 2020 as part of his global Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.
The 71-year-old has performed a staggering 4000-plus shows in more than 80 countries, with 38 gold records, 31 platinum and multi-platinum albums and over 50 top 40 hits.
He has also sold more than 300 million records worldwide.
Max Scanlan, owner of Rutherglen’s Wine Village Motor Inn, told The Free Press all 16 rooms, which have recently been upgraded to the tune of $250,000, are booked out, half of which were within a minute of pre-sale tickets being released last week.
Wahgunyah’s Riverside Motel owner Coral Young said she wouldn’t be surprised if she experienced the same thing.
“We’ve got two rooms booked, who are regulars that come at that time of the year every year but they’ve extended their stay because of Elton John,” she said.
“We sold out last year so we certainly expect to see the same thing happen this time, even though it’s on a Wednesday.”
Ms Brown is expecting the region to be buzzing in January next year and took no shock in finding out that some motels were being booked so early on.
“It doesn’t surprise me at all,” she said.
Pre-sale tickets are being made available to A Day on the Green members from 9am today, before general public tickets become available on Friday morning.
To avoid disappointment, promoters advise fans to head straight to Ticketmaster when attempting to purchase tickets, rather than any other third party websites.
