Ms Salomon brings more than ten years senior executive experience to the role, including at Greater Shepparton City Council and City of Monash.
The appointment was made at an ordinary council meeting on November 19. Ms Saloman has signed on for a three-year term at a total remuneration package of $235,000 per annum with standard terms and conditions.
Ms Salomon said she is passionate about working with, and for, communities, driving quality service delivery and delivering creative and sustainable outcomes for the community.
“A key priority for me will be meeting the expectations of the community. I look forward to building on and harnessing new, existing and emerging opportunities and working with councillors and our community to achieve our shared goals, priorities and aspirations,” she said.
Strathbogie Shire mayor Amanda McClaren said Ms Salomon was selected from a high calibre pool of candidates.
“We are so pleased to appoint Julie Salomon, a seasoned local government executive, with a strong connection to the Goulburn Valley region and broad experience in leading and managing community development and services,” Ms McClaren said.
“It will be fantastic to have Julie at the helm as we head into the final year of this council’s term. We look forward to the leadership and vision Julie will provide the organisation into the future, with a strong focus on meeting the needs and expectations of our community.”
Mayor McClaren also thanked the community and council staff for their patience throughout a lengthy recruitment process and acknowledged the leadership of Phil Howard as acting chief executive since July 2019.
