The Panthers had some work to do this week in order to get their first win for the season.
The girls quickly got the jump on Doon, however, at quarter-time the scores were tied at seven apiece.
The second quarter saw a significant increase in work rate and intensity from all the girls and they had a huge quarter scoring 18 goals while keeping Doon to four.
The momentum shift in the game was significant and the team was determined not to let this game slide.
Adele Henwood was brilliant in defence doing everything to pull in rebounds and create turnovers.
At the other end of the court the shooters had a great day with Georgia Spencer playing her best game so far; shooting well, but also being valuable on defensive transitions and creating deflections to turn the ball back over. The midcourt girls were extremely solid this week creating space and protecting possession of the ball.
It was a fantastic team effort by the girls and they were definitely rewarded for their efforts with the final score being 43-27.

B-grade
B-grade went down to Bonnie Doon by eight goals this week with the final score being 43-51.
Unfortunately, the girls had a poor first quarter which saw Doon quickly jump out to a 10-goal lead which the team was unable to peg back by the end of the match.
Brooke Bradshaw and Elyse Felstead worked really well together in goals this week, with Brooke doing a mountain of work both in and outside the shooting circle. Bec Bradshaw and Ashlea McDonald fought hard for the team making space and creating tips in their respective positions.
The girls showed some good passages of play, but it simply wasn’t enough to counteract the damage that Doon had done early.

B-reserve
B-reserve had an amazing game against Bonnie Doon which was at the top of the ladder.
They held strong all throughout the game with Grace Bekins playing an unusual position in GD and Hannah McCallum stepping up in GA where her extra fitness efforts were really shown.
Sarah Kubiel played C for three quarters displaying her strong fitness efforts that has also been paying off.
Sarah Terry and Mel Reaper really talked it up for the girls making it easier on the court for them.
Last quarter we were only two down, but unfortunately Bonnie Doon got the better of us falling eight down.
Best on went to Hannah McCallum for her accuracy and fitness.
Under-17
C-grade was nervous coming up against a higher-placed Bonnie Doon on Good Friday, however, the girls were able to capitalise on a depleted Bonnie Doon side.
The game was fairly even throughout, however, the All Blacks broke away in the final quarter winning 55-23.
The girls jelled really well together and demonstrated skills that they have been working hard on at training.
Jemma Smith and Bri McNair were accurate in their shooting, working well together and being able to get the ball closer to the ring for their advantage.
As always, the defensive end of Jessie Ellis and Paige Blaine were solid, being able to take many turnovers and taking advantage of missed goals.

Under-15
Bonnie Doon came out fighting from the first centre pass.
The girls making silly mistakes let Bonnie Doon take advantage of the turnovers, not missing many goals.
Awards went to Diaz Matthews who moved well through the court, Rose Mathieson who has been training well improving on court every week, and Caitlin Timmers who didn’t give up in the defensive end.
