Ms Gleeson has become a familiar name for discerning shoppers of New Zealand knitwear as she has toured south-east Australia with the pop-up shop for more than two decades.
She has passed the torch to new owner Fiona Beggs, who intends to continue stocking the ever-popular merino and merino/possum knitwear, and plans to keep bringing the shop to Benalla.
A series of chance encounters have influenced Caroline’s career in knitwear since her beginnings in the industry in Tasmania 27 years ago.
The latest chance encounter occurred last April when Fiona walked into the shop and asked if it was for sale.
‘‘I had been looking for the right business to grow and work for myself, but I had to have a good-quality product,’’ Fiona said.
Things have moved rapidly since then and Caroline said it was the right time to move on.
‘‘It was just meant to be,’’ she said.
‘‘I have enjoyed travelling around Australia and meeting so many wonderful people, but after 27 years it was time for a change.
‘‘I am just so thrilled Fiona has bought the business. She is the right person to take it into the future.’’
Fiona has confirmed that the pop-up shop will continue to visit Benalla.
She will be joined by Caroline at Ella Goose on Friday, May 24, and is looking forward to meeting some old customers and new.
