The reference brochure provides information and contact details for a range of local and government agencies and support services for issues affecting farmers and rural residents.
Mayor Scott Upston said rural communities needed to actively look after their health and wellbeing during tough times.
‘‘Current weather conditions have created challenges for rural communities,’’ Cr Upston said.
‘‘Limited water supply, high fodder costs and ongoing dry conditions mean that rural residents are facing particular hardships.
‘‘We encourage people to create strategies for positive financial, physical and mental health outcomes.
‘‘The supports listed in the brochure offer services designed to help rural communities.’’
The council continues to support the Rural Outreach Program, a free service to support the health and wellbeing of people living in rural communities.
Council’s rural outreach worker Ivan Lister visits rural residents in their own environment and provides a link to appropriate support services.
The program is supported by the Rural Outreach Worker Reference Group, which is made up of local farmers, service providers and health services.
