The program will offer more rebates for Victorian households to install solar panels or solar hot water.
Furthermore, Solar Victoria will accept a final 2000 applications before the end of the financial year on June 30.
More than 30000 households have taken up the program since it opened last August, with Victorians saving more than $21million on their power bills.
‘‘Tens of thousands of Victorians have taken advantage of our rebates, saving money on installation and slashing their power bills,’’ Premier Daniel Andrews said.
‘‘We’re putting power back into the hands of Victorians, putting a power station on their roof to drive down energy costs, boost supply and fight climate change.’’
The government package is expected to roll out solar panels, solar hot water and solar batteries to 770000 households during the next 10 years.
But to ensure an orderly implementation of the program, caps are set each year on the number of available rebates.
The program is expected to cut Victoria’s carbon emissions by almost four million tonnes during the next decade, which is the equivalent of taking one million of Victoria’s 4.6 million cars off the road.
