‘‘For 2019, two submissions were received and the committee was pleased to hand over a cheque for $1500 to the Benalla Flexible Learning Centre, to expand the student music program,’’ Cr Upston said.
A grant in 2018 enabled the centre to purchase two keyboards for student use.
The 2019 grant aims to provide additional sound equipment, which will extend their capacity for voice and instrument amplification.
The Tomorrow Today Foundation also received a cheque, for $1100, in support of their student and parent orientation tours to Melbourne Universities.
This program allows students to gain an insight into the operation of a university, and the accommodation options that might be available, should they wish to extend their education.
Committee member Barry O’Connor said they were pleased to be able to assist both organisations with their vitally important support programs for Benalla students.
