Orson Welles and the Mercury Theatre On The Air in The War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells

World Premiere Season

A new play by Steven T. Boltz and Amy Hollow

Based on the original radio broadcast week of War of the Worlds.

On 30 October 1938, Orson Welles and the Mercury Theatre On the Air created a wild panic across America with their live radio dramatisation of H.G. Wells’ “War of the Worlds”.
Much has been made of the broadcast – often mistakenly called a “hoax” – over the years, but little attention has been paid to the battle Welles fought with the executives at CBS Radio to keep broadcasting the show, as well as to maintain its integrity once it went to air.

Shepparton Theatre Arts Group is once again proud to be fostering the talents of playwrights in the region to produce new and exciting theatrical works.

Direction: Steven T. Boltz and Amy Hollow

Information Night: TBA
Auditions: TBA
Show Dates: November 2018

For persons 18 years and over at time of audition.
