Bohollow — a 24-hour rescue service made up of two registered, privately run shelters — shared expert advice on caring for native animals.
Wildlife carers Kirsty Ramadan and Deb Fowler led the three-hour session, offering vital tips on how to respond in emergencies, what supplies to keep on hand, and how to support rescue efforts.
Deb also shared her powerful lived experiences as an on-call wildlife responder, giving attendees a deeper appreciation for the challenges and rewards of the work.
The afternoon ended on a high, with cuddles from some of Bohollow’s rescued animals.
Eight-year-old Ruby Reilly described Bobby the brushtail bettong as “so super fluffy” with “an extra long tail”.
News photographer Rechelle Zammit captured some photos of these cute creatures.
