To celebrate the United Nations International Day of Older Persons, Age-Friendly North East Victoria is hosting a conversation on Thursday, September 30, about the way we connect and build relationships in the real and online world.
The theme of this year’s International Day of Older Persons is “digital equity for all ages”, which emphasises the need for access and meaningful digital participation for older people across the globe.
Yet digital access and participation only tells half the story.
In this conversation we’ll explore how, in a COVID-shaped world, older people are fostering social connection online and in the real world.
Dr Kathleen Brasher will be joined by guest panellists:
Rodd Farr, President U3A Albury Wodonga;
Coral Love, Mudgegonga resident with experience working with communities across Australia; and
Jenny Steer, volunteer at the Wangaratta Digital Hub, who will explore the motivations, successes and challenges in connecting online and maintaining real-world relationships.
The event will be held online via Zoom from 10am to 11am, Thursday, September 30.
