To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the end of WWII, the EHS has put together a show that will take you on a journey like no other.
Echuca in Uniform 75 years ago – The Untold Stories follows the narrative of people such as Herbert Andrew and Arthur Denyer, who both hailed from Echuca and enlisted in the 2/22nd battalion.
The exhibition highlights the soldiers involved in heavy conflict, and others who, while not on the front line, were every bit as important.
The day Japan accepted Allied demands for unconditional surrender on August 14, 1945, one of the soldiers in the exhibition was present at the signing to end the war with the Japanese.
For some, it was an adventure and for others, they believed it was their duty to defend their country.
The exhibition tells the stories of people who lived in Echuca and surrounding areas who then changed into uniform and went on to fight in the war years, serving their region and country in so many ways.
It is supported by the Victorian Government and Victorian Veterans Council.
Information and educational notes along with photo displays, maps, uniforms and other objects complement the exhibition.
The exhibition will run until February, 2021.
