On the advice of NSW Health and Racing NSW, spectators had previously not been able to attend race meetings following a COVID-19 outbreak over the winter months.
An estimated crowd of 400 flocked to the Corowa course on Monday for a bit relaxed fun and frivolity.
Racegoers had to adhere to strict COVID-19 protocols and were required to show proof of double vaccination to enter the grounds.
Fashions on the Field was sorely missed once this year, however a small number of racegoers still pulled out the fascinators and fancy footwear and enjoyed the many activities of the day.
Crowds were entertained by local duo Jade Gibson and Jason Kendall who provided great music over the afternoon.
Elsewhere on the grounds, designated dining areas and bars were full and the betting ring was busy.
On the track, Corowa trainer Rick Freyer won the Naughtin Developments Maiden Plate, (1000m) with Fighting Kayo ridden by Bradley Vale. The pre-race favourite showed good form, storming to the finish line just in front of Miss Luminari.
Corowa Race Club Secretary Gail Law said, “Everyone seems to be enjoying the relaxed atmosphere, and we couldn’t have asked for better weather. We are pleased to see many local families here enjoying a great race day in Corowa.”
