Lifestyle Shepparton raises funds to battle cancer

By Shepparton News

The heads of three Lifestyle Shepparton residents felt the cool start to summer this week.

Residents Chris Meek, Joy Woodham and Gavan Prichett took part in the annual fundraiser that donates money to Goulburn Valley Health's Peter Copulos Cancer and Wellness Centre.

Mr Prichett said they began the annual event five years ago, eager to provide an avenue to raise awareness and money for men's health.

“Whatever we raise, Lifestyle match a $1 for a $1,” he said.

Mr Prichett said they had raised about $25,000 since the fundraiser began, with each year raising more and more money.

“The first two years there wasn't many people here, but now there's lots of people,” he said.

Ms Woodham was one of the brave residents to shave her head and explained why she decided to participate.

“My husband has done it for the last couple of years, but he said he didn't want to do it this year, so I decided I'd do it instead,” she said.

The event was attended by GV Health prostate cancer specialist nurse Sonia Strachan and GV Health Foundation Director Carmel Johnson, who thanked the residents and Lifestyle Shepparton for their generous donation.
