Suspicious car fire in Shepparton overnight

Police are treating a car fire in Shepparton last night as suspicious.

Shepparton Police Detective Senior Constable Jacob Sinclair said at around 10.40pm, Country Fire Authority personnel and Police were called to Bradford Rd in response to a car fire.

The vehicle, a maroon Ford Falcon sedan, was fully engulfed when CFA units arrived at the scene.

Det Sen Const Sinclair said the vehicle was extinguished shortly after with no further property damage to the surrounding area, however the sedan was completely destroyed by the fire.

The vehicle was parked on the street at the time of the incident and it is believed to have been parked there for around a week without number plates.

Det Sen Const Sinclair said they were treating the fire as suspicious.
