Stolen car pulled from Kialla channel

By Shepparton News

It is believed a car pulled from a channel in Kialla East this afternoon was reported stolen more than three years ago.

Shepparton Police Sergeant Paul Gordon said police received a report today of a vehicle located in the East Goulburn Main Channel at the intersection of Mitchell and Coach Rds.

‘‘We’ve come out and had a look and we found a Mazda that it seems was stolen in February 2015,’’ he said.

Shepparton Search and Rescue divers were called to pull the vehicle from the channel which could been seen almost completely submerged.

It appears the car was a black Mazda sports edition.

The 2015 report to police had gone unsolved and Sgt Gordon said after locating the vehicle it appeared it had been there for quite some time.

‘‘We’ll make some further inquiries and see what we come up with,’’ he said.
