A splash of colour has made its way to the walls of Mooroopna’s Education and Arts Centre.
Potter Kaye Poulton and painter Esther Costa joined to co-ordinate an art group in Mooroopna 10 years ago.
Today, the group continues and welcomes artists of all skill levels and abilities.
Ms Poulton said as part of the class members were taking part in creating a wall mural inside the education and arts centre where classes were hosted.
She said before work on the mural started, the group travelled to areas including Echuca, Bendigo and Rochester, where members discovered many different art murals.
She said the trip gave the members an opportunity to brainstorm ideas and images for the mural they would create.
‘‘We gave out notepads and a lot of them sat and drew pictures on the bus as we drove around,’’ she said.
Ms Poulton said she and Ms Costa started outlining the design of the mural during the holidays and, since returning, people from the art group had taken part in creating the mural.
‘‘The theme is roads and trips, it’s a very abstracted version of the theme road trip,’’ Ms Poulton said.
She said the group was thankful to receive the funding for the project through the council and hoped to finish the art mural in the next couple of weeks.
