Fatal car crash on Heathcote-Nagambie Rd

Police are currently at the scene of a head on collision in Graytown this afternoon.

The collision took place on Heathcote-Nagambie Road about 2.30pm.

Three occupants in an SUV were travelling toward Nagambie when it appears a ute travelling in the opposite direction has come around a corner and veered onto the wrong side of the road.

A female occupant of the SUV died at the scene, the two other female occupants are being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The male driver and only occupant of the ute is being treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The exact cause of the collision is yet to be determined and is being investigated by Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives.

At this stage one person is confirmed deceased and multiple people have varying injuries which are not confirmed at this stage.

The exact cause of the incident is being investigated and is yet to be determined.

Heathcote-Nagambie Rd, Graytown, is currently closed both directions after the collision.

Air Ambulance and Major Collision Investigation unit are on the scene.

The road will be closed for some time. Expect delays.

Bendigo-Murchison Road or Seymour-Tooborac Road are the best alternatives for east/west traffic.
