LOCALS have more time to put forward their great local ideas for funding, with the deadline for the state government’s Pick My Project initiative extended to July 8.
The Victorian-first, $30 million initiative gives every Victorian over the age of 16 the opportunity to come up with a project idea that will make their community a better place, as well as the money to deliver it.
Through the program, communities across Victoria will have access to the project funds, with a minimum of $1 million guaranteed per partnership area.
With just a few simple criteria, great community ideas could receive funding of $20,000 to $200,000 to get off the ground.
Applicants submit an idea that helps build a stronger community — with the backing of a local organisation, community group, school, local council, or other eligible group — and the project could come to life within a year.
“There is a lot of buzz about Pick My Project so we’re giving local communities more time to submit their ideas,” Member for northern Victoria Mark Gepp said.
Mr Gepp said the application process takes less than 30 minutes and can be completed online.
“We’ve had about 500 people attend our information sessions and 500 calls to our hotline across Victoria — we know that there are great ideas ready to come to life.”
“We want to hear from young people, sporting clubs, community groups, schools, everyone who is active and involved in Northern Victoria — because they know better than anyone what is needed.”
When all applications are in and assessed, they’ll be published online in August and applicants can start encouraging friends and neighbours to vote for their project and other favourites.
