The Circus is in town

By Shepparton News

You will find lions, monkeys and camels in Shepparton this week, as Lennon Bros Circus comes to town.

One of only two circuses in Australia to have lions in their performances, the family-owned show has been operating for 123 years, spanning nine generations.

A team of 28 travelling performers plans to wow crowds with a big list of top acts, including juggling, the wheel of steel, globe of death and trapeze.

The two-hour show also includes performances by monkeys, dogs and donkeys among other animal acts.

Lennon Bros Circus marketing manager Georgie Lennon said everyone was ‘‘part of the family’’, including the animals.

‘‘It’s a little community and everyone does everything to get the show together,’’ Ms Lennon said.

Lennon Bros Circus is returning to Shepparton for the first time since 2012.

‘‘The town has been really friendly and welcoming,’’ Ms Lennon said.

‘‘It’s great when you feel like a town really wants you to come.

‘‘We also love having such beautiful green lawns to perform on after being on mud recently,’’ she said.

Lennon Bros Circus is on from today to Sunday, July 1, at Shepparton Showgrounds.
