The Lone Tree Hill Cutting Club has donated more than $7000, raised at its Easter Show, to Benalla Health.
Club vice-president Pete Kennedy said they thought fundraising with an event was a great idea and that donating to the hospital was an easy choice.
‘‘The hospital is a place that everyone uses from young people to old people,’’ Mr Kennedy said.
‘‘A lot of people supported us and it was something we could do to give back to the community.’’
Benalla Health chief executive officer Janine Holland said the donation was generous and she wanted to thank the cutting club for its support.
‘‘We’re very pleased as usual for the support that the community consistently give to the health service,’’ Ms Holland said.
‘‘It’s a very generous donation that we will put to good use.
‘‘We’ll probably consult with our staff and see if they’ve got a wish-list, but we’ll be very mindful about how we spend it.’’
The Lone Tree Hill Cutting Club Easter Show was deemed a great success by organisers with 120 competitors battling it out for more than $25000 in prizemoney.
Mr Kennedy said the show, which was a four-day event held at the Benalla Equestrian Centre, was only such a success because of all the people who worked behind the scenes.
‘‘We’re going to try and make it an annual event, so hopefully we’ll be raising money into the future for the community,’’ he said.
