Donna Taylor and Wayne Fitzpatrick from Deniliquin’s Edward River Caravan Hire have started a Pay It Forward initiative to help emergency service personnel in Deniliquin as part of the flood emergency feel welcome.
They put $250 over the counter at two local cafes - McLarens and Harry Pepper Coffee - and the owners of each establishment have matched the donation.
Donna said her partner Wayne, who is an RFS volunteeer, has been treated so well when he is deployed to other areas, and she wanted to reciprocate the kindness here.
“I’m challenging other people to donate similarly,” she said.
“It doesn’t matter if it’s $5 or $50; it’s whatever you can afford.
“This is a great way to show our appreciation and it helps local businesses as well.”
Donna said this was a time for Deni to step up and show we are committed to being there for our surrounding region.
