There is an out of control bush fire burning about 11km east of Yarrawonga on an island near Major's Creek on Lake Mulwala.

The fire has burnt up to 5Ha and is believed to be near the "Bourke St" pass and Snake Island area situated alongside the Murray River.

Four CFA crews are at the scene and a water bombing plane and helicopter have been used to assist distinguishing the fire.  The plane has been seen hovering over Lake Mulwala and lowering to collect water.

It is believed the fire started at a campsite nearby. All boat users are asked to take precaution if using the area.
