Bistro first-placed

CEO Richard Hogg, Operations Manager Peter Savy and Executive Chef Rory Burling are thrilled with the golf club resort’s new look bistro.

Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Club Resort’s bistro renovation was largely completed, on schedule, recently, in time the Melbourne Cup and proved a winner in the nation’s biggest race as patrons watched the races on the many television sets.

“We needed to do it,” club operations manager Peter Savy told the Yarrawonga Chronicle of the $666,000 bistro project.
“I’ve been working here close to 30 years and ever since I’ve been here we’ve had no upgrade except for a little bit at the back of the kitchen.”
The bistro’s major renovation, which includes new equipment, make the staff feel proud to work at Yarrawonga Mulwala Golf Resort according to Mr Savy.
 “The new layout overcomes past inefficiencies,” he said. At a ClubsNSW conference attended by the operations manager and two directors, the message was made clear. “Clubs have got to keep things fresh - don’t let things go stale in your club,” Mr Savy relayed.
“My plan was to have much of this project finished by the AGM (Thursday, October 26) so members could get a good look and get it operating for the Cup weekend.” He beat his target.   
Executive Chef Rory Burling described the project as “awesome”. “It’s brand new. It needed a face lift - something inviting,” he said.
The club’s Chief Executive Officer Richard Hogg said the driving force behind the major upgrade was efficiency and consistency.
“It was very hard to manage this with an obsolete system, carrying food 30 metres away and through the crowd of patrons,” he said.
“The doors separating the conference room are state-of-art and we will have some more new furniture so there are smaller, private type areas.
“These and other minor expenditure items within the $666,000 total including the Green Terrace are all designed with members’ comfort in mind.”
