Deniliquin Meals on Wheels will be holding a special birthday dinner this month to celebrate 50 years of service to the community.

To be held on Saturday, August 19, the two-course dinner will feature performances by local musicians as well as special guests, according to Deni branch coordinator Michelle Hand-Beehag.

‘‘It will be a big celebration with live entertainment provided by Gomer and the Girl,’’ she said.

‘‘We’ll also have a raffle draw which includes some great products donated by a number of local businesses and community members.

‘‘Everyone is welcome to attend and help us celebrate our achievements and how far we have come over the past 50 years.’’

Pam Mulholland — the network support consultant at Meals on Wheels — will be one of many special guests, with others including long-serving and current volunteers, committee members and more.

The dinner will be held in the RSL Club’s Mountbatten Room and the cost is $35 per person.

Tickets can be pre-purchased from the Deni RSL, Deni Meals on Wheels and Yallambee, however seats are limited.
