Students compete in Lions youth quest

February 16, 2017

The Lions Club of Seymour Goulburn recently organised the Lions Youth of the Year quest to encourage student interest in leadership and community service.

Seymour College student Ashleigh Butcher represented the local Lions club at the regional judging in Tatura.

Three students were interviewed by a panel of judges, then competed in the public speaking competition in front of family, friends and members of the sponsoring Lions Clubs.

The students responded to two impromptu questions, then presented a five-minute prepared speech on a topic of their choice.

Ashleigh was well prepared and spoke passionately about living with climate change.

Although not the eventual winner, Ashleigh is to be congratulated on her commitment to the Lions Quest and for representing Seymour College so well.

Later this year, students will again be invited to participate in the Lions Youth of the Year quest.
