In Division 1, Kenn Boal of Rich River was uncontested and was presented with the winner’s trophy.
Russ Smyth of Rich River and John Young of Mooroopna had a close battle for Division 2 in a best-of-three contest. Russ took an early lead in both games but John fought back brilliantly with great ball placement and won both games, becoming Division 2 Champion.
In Division 3, Helen Hastie of Mooroopna and John James of Rich River also had a best-of-three contest. Helen played some exceptional long shots to strike her distant targets and took home the trophy for that division after winning the first two games.
Four entrants in Division 4 played a round robin. David ‘Doc’ Ryant of Rich River played exceptionally well, winning all three of his games and keeping his opponents’ scores low. Doc was the winner, followed by Brian Harwood of Mooroopna, who won two of his three games.
The winners will represent the GVCA in Croquet Victoria’s Regional Championships in Swan Hill to be held on April 16 to 19 where they will face entrants from all around Victoria and southern NSW.
